1. Basically what does Leader2Leader® do?
Leader2Leader® is a complete business communications platform that incorporates all of the tools that a worker normally uses in a day, including voicemail, email, fax, chat, collaboration, teleconferencing, shared calendar and more. These communications tools are displayed in a web browser on screens called Digital Leaderboards that can be customized to each worker's needs. It has numerous "vertical" applications including Key Performance Resources & Reporting, Business Continuity, and Information Rights Management, to name a few.
2. Can you give me an example of how it might work in practice?
Let's say you owned a chain of retail clothing stores. You have to communicate with managers at each store, shipping companies, plus buyers all over the world. You set up one "leaderboard" to cover, say, fall fashions, then communicate with all participants in real time. You could track each vendor's shipments as they moved from factory to boat to truck to warehouse to store. You could securely distribute photos of new fashions to determine interest. Your managers would be able to give you instant feedback on what's hot and what's not, so you could order more of popular items earlier and send less popular items to outlet stores more quickly. Each leaderboard page can handle all your conference calls, voice mails, faxes, emails, files exchanged and any other tools you need, plus a permanent record is kept of everything in one data store, so you can easily retrieve it later.
2. Your white paper talks about three value propositions: collaboration, leadership and intellectual capital. What is the connection?
Leader2Leader®'s design made several bedrock assumptions about what an enterprise wants to use technology to achieve. Collaboration technology itself is just a means to an end. What is that end for an enterprise? Ultimately it must assist that enterprise to achive its vision. Strategically, how is vision ultimately achieved? Through a proper marshalling (leadership) of the enterprise's human and material assets in movement toward the vision. In our knowledge economy it is widely recognized that the true value of an enterprise is in its intellectual capital value. Leader2Leader®'s designers took great pains to develop a secure, scalable platform architecture that could meet these three value propositions in the same system. Email, voice mail, fax, files, documents, calendars, tasks, web conferences, etc. are only means to an end. Leader2Leader provides these tools in a way that automatically address their larger strategic significance as means and mechanisms to foster better leadership and bank intellectual capital.
